National Space Day 2025 – 23 August
- National Space Day in India is celebrated on August 23rd annually to commemorate the successful soft landing of the Chandrayaan-3 mission on the Moon.
- On August 23, 2023, the Vikram Lander of the Chandrayaan-3 mission successfully achieved a soft landing on the lunar surface.
- This made India the fourth country to land on the Moon and the first to land near its southern polar region.
- The theme for India’s National Space Day in 2025 is “Aryabhatta to Gaganyaan: Ancient Wisdom to Infinite Possibilities”.
- This theme connects India’s historical astronomical heritage, exemplified by the ancient astronomer Aryabhatta, with its ambitious future projects, such as the Gaganyaan human spaceflight mission.
