INS Udaygiri – Second Ship of Nilgiri-Class Commissioned
- INS Udaygiri is a state-of-the-art stealth frigate of the Indian Navy, built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai.
- It is the second of seven frigates constructed under Nilgiri-class (Project 17A).
- The ship was commissioned on August 26, 2025, in Visakhapatnam.
- The frigate is named after the Udayagiri mountain range in Andhra Pradesh.
- This multi-mission vessel features modular construction, stealth capabilities, and state-of-the-art weapons and sensors to enhance the Indian Navy’s ability to handle diverse maritime operations.
- The construction of seven Nilgiri-Class frigates are currently divided between MDL and GRSE.
