- Nepal joined the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA) in August 2025, becoming the latest country to formally join the India-led initiative by signing the Framework Agreement.
- Nepal’s landscapes host snow leopards, tigers, and common leopards, and its membership is expected to strengthen global collaboration for big cat conservation.
- The IBCA is a global, multi-country, multi-agency alliance launched in April 2023 to conserve seven species of big cats and their habitats.
- The seven species are the Tiger, Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, Cheetah, Jaguar, and Puma.
