‘Sustainable Power 1404’ – Naval Military Exercise conducted by Iran

  • ‘Sustainable Power 1404’ was the name of a two-day naval military exercise conducted by Iran in August 2025.
  • The exercise took place in the Gulf of Oman and the northern Indian Ocean and was Iran’s first major naval drill following a 12-day conflict with Israel in June 2025.
  • The drill aimed to improve combat readiness and demonstrate Iran’s naval and missile capabilities following the June conflict.
  • The number ‘1404’ in the name comes from the Persian calendar year, symbolizing Iran’s future strategic goals.
  • The exercise involved launching missiles at sea targets from Iranian warships, including the frigate IRIS Sabalan and the vessel IRIS Ganaveh, which fired Nasir and Qadir cruise missiles.
